Dresselhaus Chooses ROCKETSOLUTION!

6 December 2023

With the extensive modernization of its logistics center in Herford, Dresselhaus is setting new benchmarks in the industry and will elevate the supply of its industrial and commercial customers to a new level.

During the modernization of the small parts storage area, the main focus was on automation, as the previous picking process was entirely manual and paper-based. Due to limited space, a logistics concept was required that could be implemented efficiently within the constrained building area. The choice fell on ROCKETSOLUTION’s highly standardized ROCKET small parts storage system, which significantly increases space efficiency through its extremely compact and scalable shuttle technology.

Mario Plank, CLO and member of the management board at Joseph Dresselhaus, emphasizes:

“Our main goal was to find an alternative to conventional systems that could store many containers in a small footprint. We chose ROCKETSOLUTION as the right partner because of their hands-on mentality and agility. The collaboration during both the sales and implementation phases was very promising, and we are confident that the ROCKET system will meet our high requirements for picking, performance, and capacity in the long term.”

The ROCKET shuttle system at the Herford site comprises a single aisle designed as a roaming system. With double-sided four-deep storage, approximately 25,000 storage locations for loads up to 220 mm are available in minimal space. Horizontal transport within the warehouse is handled by 15 shuttles distributed across 35 storage levels, which can change levels via a roaming lift at the aisle end. Vertical transport of containers for inbound and outbound processes is managed by two central and laterally connected lifts, each bidirectionally linked to an AGV system via the conveyor interface.

The solution stands out not only for its four-deep storage and compact, space-efficient design but also for its high scalability, allowing performance to be increased further by adding additional shuttles. The central lift arrangement optimizes shuttle travel paths for maximum efficiency. Additionally, the entire system can be mirrored, doubling both capacity and throughput.

The new intralogistics solution in Herford is currently in the testing phase, marking the final stage before the go-live.
